Makeup haul! (featuring, GOSH, MUA, QVS superdrug)

Hey my little puddings, I hope you are all well! πŸ™‚

It’s time for a new makeup haul, I went down to my local Superdrug yesterday for some much needed retail therapy. Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone! πŸ˜‰

Now, I hope you’re proud of me, I managed to pull myself away from looking at Barry M nail varnishes, as I have far too many already and I left nail varnish free, now let me show you what I did get…

Image

I also love the packaging, and I think it looks very professional with the white and black colour scheme, and it also looks more expensive than it actually is. (RRP Β£7.99)

I’ve been meaning to try out a new liquid foundation, as I’ve always been stuck in that boring ‘stick to what you know’ routine with my foundations, and ALWAYS bought either Max factors ‘Lasting performance’ (in 100/Fair) or L’Oreal ‘True match’ (in true ivory) but truth be told, while they both were fantastic in my opinion, I didn’t feel like they were light enough for my skin tone. Not light enough?! You are thinking…I know, I know. I love to have a really pale ‘snow white’ face. I’m not saying deathly pale…anyway. –

After reading many reviews on the GOSH X-ceptional foundation in the shade (11/porcelain) I thought I’d give it a go. Many said it was the palest foundation they have seen, and bought it time after time just for the lightness of it. Many ‘red heads’ said that this foundation is perfect for their really pale skin tone, so I thought perfect!

Image

I love the consistency of this foundation, it’s not super runny like some I’ve tried, and it’s far from thick and cakey… also, a small amount seems to go a long way, which makes the foundation even more great value for money! Upon application it doesn’t drag, and goes on smooth and evenly (I use either a makeup sponge or a foundation brush). It also felt light on my face and the shade is perfect for me and gives me the level of paleness I wanted. I’d also say this foundation is matte though it does have light reflecting particles in it, you can always add a powder on the top to make it extra matte, not that I think there is any need to. So smiles all round! πŸ˜€

Image

Now I have this foundation I really can’t see how I’ve never tried it before, and shall make it my foundation to buy all the time now!

Next I decided to buy a foundation brush… I did want to get the GOSH one, but my superdrug didn’t have it in, and I didn’t want to spend lots on a synthetic brush that wasn’t my first choice, so I decided to get the superdrug own brand foundation brush…

Image

Image

Image

This brush was only Β£4.99 and I have to say, for the price and it being a non brand (QVS at Superdrug), it’s a really good brush. It’s also soooo soft on the skin and applies product evenly.

Now, the next thing I bought was a replacement for not buying any nail varnish… I mean, I was stood at the Barry M section, drooling over all their pretty colours, and then I thought to myself “no, Laura. You don’t need anymore right now” So I walked away, and found myself looking at MUA… and then this caught my eye.

Image

MUA, fur effect nails (RRP Β£3). How tacky cool is this?! I picked up the colour ‘Fluffy puff’ because honesty, that was the only colour that appealed to me. (I’m a huge sucker for pastels and soft pinks) I can’t wait to try this out, the colour is gorgeous and reminds me of candy floss! I wish MUA would bring this out in the colour black, I think it would look very chic.

Image

Image

As soon as I try this out I’ll be sure to do a post on it! I’m loving textured nails at the moment, and I think fur nails will look amazing, Infact I can’t think of any other brand that has brought out fur effect for nails before…

What do you think of any of the products here? What about those furry nails eh? πŸ˜‰

Razzle dazzle ’em! – Barry M dazzle dust.

Hey my lil puddings!

It’s a little well known fact that I love anything that sparkles, shines or glitters, and so it was only natural that I’d eventually gravitate towards Barry M’s ‘Dazzle dust’. (just the name makes me smile πŸ˜› )

And as usual there are loads to choose from, infact there are 60 colours to choose from. You may be spoilt for choice! As for me, I wanted to get a colour that would stand out, but also be wearable. And as well as be a colour that I havnt really experimented with fully.

So, I have the dazzle dust in “Crystal blue/81”. πŸ™‚

Image

The compact, cute lil’ pot means it wont take up room in your makeup bag, as well as making it perfect for carrying around with you, or in your bag on a night out.

Image

Image

Just look at that gorgeous, crystal blue colour! It sparkles in the light πŸ˜€

A description/quote from the Barry M website –

“A spectacular collection of breath taking loose, highly pearlised powder available in a profusion of colours to enhance your eyes, cheeks or lips.Β

Each little pot contains multiple facets of intensive reflective colour that glides on smoothly adding sparkle and sheen.Β These luscious shades can be applied bright and bold or shimmering and subtle, with over 60 original colours to choose from everyone can find a favourite pot or two or three…”Β

Image

To the touch, the powder is silky smooth, and ultra fine. As you can see it is highly pigmented! It has long staying power when on the eyes, and the sparkle doesn’t fade over time either. This dazzle dust is a keeper for me, and I can’t wait to buy some more, and try out some more vivid looks, and for the very resonable price of just Β£4.59 it’d be a crime not to πŸ˜‰

I think these colours are also stunning…

Shimmer cubes (The Body Shop)

Hey my little puddings…

I just bought some eyeshadow from the body shop (UK). This is the first makeup product I’ve ever bought from them, but I’ve only ever read brilliant things about their, shimmer cube eyeshadow palettes. So I decided to purchase one, I got the purple quad. ‘Palette 23’.

Image

The colours are gorgeous, a set of 3 shimmery iridescent shades of purple and a white. They also all have sweet names too. (I’m a sucker for colour names on makeup) πŸ˜›

“PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A palette of four subtle iridescent shades to mix and match. Crease-resistant and suitable for contact-lens wearers.

  • Iridescent finish
  • Crease-resistant
  • Dermatologically tested
  • Ophthalmologically tested”
 – Quote from, The body shop website (UK)

Image

As you can also see, the solid colour goes right down to the bottom of each cube, so the palette should last you ages! This also makes it great value for money, when you think how long each colour should last you. πŸ™‚

Image

My favourite shade is Orchid purple, though I do love them all, and can’t wait to try them out for more dramatic night time looks. So keep your eyes peeled for that! πŸ˜‰

Do you have any of these shimmer cubes? What is your favourite shade, or palette?

Jewels! (Barry M nail paints)

Hey my little christmas puddings! πŸ™‚

I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas/what ever holiday it is you celebrate!

I went down to superdrug in town today, as I had a Β£15 gift card. And made a dash for the Barry M display. I was looking for some bright jewel colours. And sure enough I found some gorgeous colours, the ones I bought are- 312 Indigo, 272 Shocking pink, and 303 Bright purple.

Image

(Indigo, shocking pink, bright purple)

Image

These are gorgeous bright jewel colours, I think my favourite is the indigo. I cant wait to do some swatches of them. My nail varnish collection is full of pastels, metallics and softer/muted colours, so these will certainly add a bold, pop of colour to my collection πŸ˜€ I also think they would look great on my nails when I’m wearing my new new, ‘Jeffrey campbel’ Litas. ❀

I also then noticed that if you spent so much on Barry M’s makeup, you could get one of their glitter nail paints for free. So I picked this one. I believe it is a christmas limited edition, I also love the bright coloured/textured bottle lid!

Image

Image

I tried to look for the name of this, however I couldn’t find one? All I could gather was that it was a limited christmas glitter. It’s a fine glitter, a mixture of red, blue, silver and green. I also thought it looked quite similar to the ‘Jewel Britannia’ which sold out VERY fast at my local superdrug. I missed out on it, however I’m happy with this glitter, as it is similar. πŸ™‚

Image

I took this photo outside, as I wanted to capture the colours of the glitter.

I’m addicted and all for the Barry M nail paints. There are always sooooo many gorgeous colours, wether they are pastel, or vibrant. So excited to try my new ones out. πŸ™‚

Superdrug haul! (MUA)

Superdrug haul! I went to the MUA display in super drug today, and they had an offer on. If you bought Β£6 or more on MUA makeup, then you got their new Artiste palette for free! So I picked up 3 things for myself, and 2 things for my mum. Below Is photo of what I got, (including some hair dye, from L’oreal Paris – Feria, in ‘blackest black’)

Image

MUA have a new line of blushers out, so I picked them up. They are a cream blush, new to their range. I’ve never tried cream blushers, only ever tried powder. So that will be fun. They had some lovely shades, I picked up. “BitterSweet” and “Blossom”.

Image

(Top – BitterSweet) (Bottom – Blossom).

Image

Image

Below is a swatch of each blusher.

“These cream blushers are very versatile and multi-purpose. They can be directly applied to bare skin, layered over foundation or set with the matching matte blushers in the Β£1 MUA range. You can use blush perfection to highlight your cheekbones, shape your face, build and blend with fingers or a brush to create the colour intensity. The colour effects range from a light pink to warm shade, depending on method of application.” – MUA.Β

BitterSweet –

Image

BitterSweet is a lovely soft pink blush. It’s much more subtle than powder blush (IMO) And so, makes it great for building up the colour gradually. I really love this shade, and the name! I havnt worn this yet, so cannot give a proper review, but when I do use it, I shall do a summary on it for you. πŸ™‚

Blossom.

Image

Blossom is a much more nude based pink. Really nice if you’re not a fan of, in your face, pink blushes.

Overall These blushes are fantastic value for money, at only Β£2 each! And come in 4 gorgeous shades!

Now, onto the palette! πŸ˜‰

It’s a combination palette, as it has 6 marble eyeshadows (which all have names, which is a first for MUA) As well as two blushers, and also a bronzer and a highlighter. It’s all in a compact case, which is great for on the go!

Marbled effect eyeshadows –Β

Image

Image

It’s swatch time! πŸ˜‰

Image

The shadows are well pigmented, and also have a slight shimmer to them. They all have great names too! πŸ˜€ (I’m a sucker for nice names for makeup!) hahaha.

Image

Mmmm, cookie and chocolate? Sounds good enough to eat, and they look gorgeous too! I have a feeling that those two will be my favourite in this palette.

Oh stop! You’re making me blush –Β

The Artiste collection palette also has not one, but two powder blushers.

Image

Again, with lovely names…

Image

Pink sparkle is much more lighter, than Primrose. They seem to have really nice pigmentation, as well as soft and easy to apply.

Bronzed beauty –Β

Image

Lastly, you get 1 bronzer and 1 highlighter. now, I don’t use bronzer. This one is a rich tan colour. However, I will use the highlighter, as it’s a gorgeous subtle tone, with shimmer. In fact it is so subtle that when I tried to photograph a swatch, my camera could hardly pick it up. (it’s visible to the naked eye). Perhaps I need to wait there is better light…

So, overall this palette is brilliant! Wide choice of eye shadow colours and shades. All with strong pigments. Two lovely blushers to choose from, as well as a bronzer and highlighter! πŸ™‚

I looked up the RRP of this, and it retails at Β£6. However, if you spend Β£6 or more on their MUA makeup in Superdrug, then you get the palette for FREE! KA-CHING!!!!
